Goodbye To Tommy Thompson

After taking sixth place in the Iowa Straw Poll, Tommy Thompson's the first candidate to drop out of the race. No chance now for sisters Kelli and Tommi to become First Daughters, but heck, they were Governor's Girls from 1987-2001 in Wisconsin. They got to live here -- it's not the White House, but it's not too shabby, eh? The other good news is that both daughters obviously adore their father, and son Jason seems close to his Dad, too. Now that makes TT a real winner. Peace be with you, Governor Thompson, to your wife and children, and to those five grandbabies, too.

R U in an RV?

I'm not the only one tootling across the U.S. of A in an RV this summer. The Obamas are campaigning in a Forest River Sunseeker driven by a Secret Service guy, Tommy Thompson is traveling in an RV across Iowa, and Josh Romney is also visiting all 99 Iowa counties in the famous Mitt Mobile.

Sparrowblog position: Badlands National Park under the stars. Amazing.

Sister Love: Tommi and Kelli Thompson

I was good with being an only child — until I heard about Tommi and Kelli Thompson, daughters of Tommy Thompson.

The bad news. When she was young and single, Tommi found out she had breast cancer, just like her mother. Thankfully, Tommi went into remission. Then she got married, but she and her husband couldn’t conceive a baby because of the drugs she'd taken.

The good news. Tommi had saved one egg before her treatment, so Kelli carried her sister's baby for her.

So here's the question for us lonely-onlies: who's gonna make womb for us if we need it?
